Spiritual Counselling

We understand just how challenging it can be to live with a mental health disorder. Whether you’re suffering from depression, anxiety, or substance abuse, it’s easy to feel like you’re in it alone. That no one understands you. That nothing can be done to help you recover. The truth is, with the right treatment approach and support, you can go on to heal and better manage your condition. For those who are seeking to nurture their spirituality, spiritual counselling might be the kind of therapy you need to recover and come to terms with your disorder.

Many people mistakenly believe that spiritual counselling is all about having a connection with religion. In reality, spiritual counselling can be that but it can also incorporate any kind of belief you hold into therapy (i.e. belief in crystals, belief in a higher power, or those that have a deep connection with nature). Though spiritual counselling does incorporate usual therapeutic practices such as guided imagery, reflection, and analysis of past experiences, what separates it from traditional therapy is its focus on the spirit and the soul. It’s all about absorbing your worldview and beliefs into therapy, making for a much more personal approach.

Here at Addcounsel, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s one of the reasons our treatment focuses on healing the ‘whole person’. No matter what disorder or condition you’re suffering from, we’ll work to heal you from the inside out, focusing on nurturing your physical, emotional, and spiritual health. As part of our treatment approach, we offer spiritual counselling to help those with a strong spiritual intent hone in on their spirituality and use it to build up strength, resilience, and a sense of purpose during their recovery journey.

We are here to help

How Spiritual Counselling Works

Simply put, spiritual counselling is incorporating your beliefs into therapeutic practice. That means a therapist will work with you to unpick past traumas, experiences, and deeper feelings while building your core spiritual beliefs into the mix. Even though it’s not based on a specific religion, those who do believe in a higher power may find their connection and relationship with their religion strengthened after taking part in spiritual counselling.

During sessions, you’ll be guided to reflect on your spirituality and use it to elevate your healing journey. In some instances, other forms of alternative therapy may be introduced to complement the session. This can include anything from art and equine therapy to being out in nature and practising meditation. A therapist may also make recommendations based on your disorder and diagnosis to help you in your healing journey. This may include:

  • Travelling to help broaden your world-view and develop a greater sense of connection with yourself
  • Practising self-love and acceptance to help overcome negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
  • Journalling or doing something creative to express your thoughts
  • Focusing on the ‘present’ through mindfulness
  • Volunteering to increase your sense of empathy and ‘giving back’ to the community

How Spiritual Counselling Can Help You

The great thing about spiritual counselling is that it’s an all-natural treatment approach that can be used to aid in the recovery of a wide range of disorders and conditions. It can even be done alone, meaning there’s no need to visit a therapist in person. For those who are religious, spiritual counselling can help strengthen and nurture bonds with a higher power, giving them a sense of purpose and heightened understanding. For those who don’t have a set religious belief, spiritual counselling can also help them to foster self-love, acceptance, and empathy for themselves and those around them.

As well as developing a deeper connection to yourself and the world around you, spiritual counselling can also help you analyse your core inner values – religious or not – and encourage you to recommit to them. In this way, it can also be seen as a therapeutic approach that helps guide people to transformation and become the best version of themselves. If you’re suffering from conditions that leave you feeling a lack of trust in those around you, you’ll understand the pain of having to socially isolate or not forming proper bonds. With spiritual counselling, however, you’ll be encouraged to slowly put your trust in a therapist. Over time, you’ll learn to lower your guard and your boundaries, enabling you to feel ‘safer’ with those in your inner circle and giving you the tools and resources needed to open up to loved ones outside of therapy.

Addcounsel are the only luxury treatment centre in London who offer a network of 80 specialists on a one-to-one basis to their clients. We pride ourselves on focussing on clinical excellence, meaning that we are client focussed but results driven. We understand what it is to work with wealthy clients; we know that it is not always easy and we know how to treat the complex and unique challenges it can entail.
We carry out a thorough diagnosis with our team of expert medical and psychiatric practitioners; this enables us to not only know what the client’s immediate problem is but the underlying factors which may be affecting it. We use this to provide a bespoke holistic treatment program in which every single aspect of the client is looked after, from their physical to their mental health. We are well equipped to match both our clients therapeutic and lifestyle needs, and we provide ongoing care plans with the goal of enabling our clients to have long lasting and consistent recovery.

Our treatment programs are delivered on a case-by-case basis. Humans are all individuals, and at Addcounsel we recognise that. This is why our program is always tailored to the needs of the client as a person, rather than trying to apply a “one-size-fits-all” treatment model. However, some of the therapies our clients can expect to receive are:

  • Psychotherapy
  • EMDR
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Spiritual counselling
  • Mindfulness
  • RTMS
  • Somantic Experiencing
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT
  • Positive psychology
  • Hypnotherapy

In short, no. Our staff are very experienced in dealing with high-profile individuals and as such we understand the value of complete privacy. The only way that someone will find out that you attended Addcounsel is if you choose to tell them.

Our treatment programs are bespoke, and as such they do not have to have a set finish date. If you decide that you need to extend your stay with us, then we will extend your stay as long as you want.
If you decide that you need additional help upon leaving treatment, we offer tailored aftercare plans which can be carried out all over the world. This means that at any point you can have a member of our team with you, wherever you decide to go.

Absolutely. At Addcounsel, we pride ourselves on minimal disruption to the lifestyles of our clients. We want them to feel at home and comfortable during their time with us, so your staff can either stay with you or we can accommodate them in one of our exclusive Central London properties. We do provide a chef, but you are of course welcome to bring your own.
Addcounsel is also able to provide house staff, butlers, and private security if our clients require it.
