We understand that living with depression or anxiety often leaves us with an abundance of negative feelings about ourselves. This makes it far too easy to get stuck in a negative tunnel out of our instinct for self-preservation. You’ve probably heard about the importance of building self-esteem in children, but the ability to think and feel positive about yourself is just as, if not more, important for adults.
Regardless of age, self-esteem and resilience can guide you in setting and achieving goals and enables you to not get overwhelmed when pushbacks come your way. At some point in your life, you are bound to encounter disappointment, grief, or distress; it’s completely normal for your self-esteem to fluctuate throughout your life. However, with the right support and care from our highly trained therapists, you can learn to build your self-esteem and resilience. This enables you to move through these experiences with a willingness to confront and grow from the difficult emotions you may encounter.
Here at Addcounsel, we understand that the experience of living with a mental illness is different for everyone. We pride ourselves on our ‘one client at a time’ approach to ensure we fully understand your unique needs to create an individualised treatment plan suited just for you. Our multi-pronged approach means that we focus on the whole body, including all aspects of your mental, physical, and emotional health to guide you on a lasting and successful recovery journey.

How Self-esteem And Resilience Building Works
It’s a common misperception that people are born resilient, or that it’s a rare quality and difficult to build. This is simply not true. We can all change the way we see and think about the world and ourselves. It can be a scary thought that we have no control over it, but the key to successfully managing the challenges that life throws at us is by controlling and building emotional resilience.
Our compassionate team of world-class psychologists will work with you to develop several skills that help you in managing stress. This is achieved by helping you understand and challenge your thinking style, allowing you to adopt new thinking styles and flexible behaviours. We live in an era where the norm is to self-critique, to think of the wrongs in our lives rather than the rights. We will work with you to retrain this pattern of thinking so you can apply and practice your strengths rather than trying to correct your weaknesses.
Within your treatment plan, our psychologists will utilise a range of tips and techniques to help you improve your self-esteem and build your resilience. These may include:
- Self-affirmation techniques
- Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness practice
- Cognitive reframing exercises
How Self-esteem And Resilience Building Can Help You
Having a healthy level of self-esteem and resilience simply means accepting yourself for who you are. By reframing the way that you view problems and challenges, you will be able to adapt well in the face of adversity and easily bounce back from challenges that push you down. Although building resilience won’t magically make all of your problems disappear, it will give you the ability to better handle them, allowing you to find enjoyment in your life so you are able to live a happy and fulfilling future.
Throughout building your self-esteem and resilience, you will learn a set of skills that you will be able to use in your day-to-day life. You will be able to create and maintain supportive relationships, learn to be more optimistic, develop a positive self-image of yourself, and much more. The combination of these new behaviours will enable you to manage your feelings effectively and give you a sense of purpose and meaning. This will help you in maintaining positive well-being when encountering stress.

Addcounsel are the only luxury treatment centre in London who offer a network of 80 specialists on a one-to-one basis to their clients. We pride ourselves on focussing on clinical excellence, meaning that we are client focussed but results driven. We understand what it is to work with wealthy clients; we know that it is not always easy and we know how to treat the complex and unique challenges it can entail.
We carry out a thorough diagnosis with our team of expert medical and psychiatric practitioners; this enables us to not only know what the client’s immediate problem is but the underlying factors which may be affecting it. We use this to provide a bespoke holistic treatment program in which every single aspect of the client is looked after, from their physical to their mental health. We are well equipped to match both our clients therapeutic and lifestyle needs, and we provide ongoing care plans with the goal of enabling our clients to have long lasting and consistent recovery.
Our treatment programs are delivered on a case-by-case basis. Humans are all individuals, and at Addcounsel we recognise that. This is why our program is always tailored to the needs of the client as a person, rather than trying to apply a “one-size-fits-all” treatment model. However, some of the therapies our clients can expect to receive are:
- Family Systems Therapy
- Spiritual counselling
- Somantic Experiencing
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT
- Positive psychology
In short, no. Our staff are very experienced in dealing with high-profile individuals and as such we understand the value of complete privacy. The only way that someone will find out that you attended Addcounsel is if you choose to tell them.
Our treatment programs are bespoke, and as such they do not have to have a set finish date. If you decide that you need to extend your stay with us, then we will extend your stay as long as you want.
If you decide that you need additional help upon leaving treatment, we offer tailored aftercare plans which can be carried out all over the world. This means that at any point you can have a member of our team with you, wherever you decide to go.
Absolutely. At Addcounsel, we pride ourselves on minimal disruption to the lifestyles of our clients. We want them to feel at home and comfortable during their time with us, so your staff can either stay with you or we can accommodate them in one of our exclusive Central London properties. We do provide a chef, but you are of course welcome to bring your own.
Addcounsel is also able to provide house staff, butlers, and private security if our clients require it.
