Meditation
We know just how difficult it can be to deal with stress, especially if ongoing events and situations have spiked and caused you to experience ongoing or chronic stress. You might feel constantly tense, anxious, and worried. You may even find that stress is impacting your day-to-day life, whether that’s at work or at home. In these cases, practising meditation is a great way of easing symptoms and restoring inner calm.
A natural treatment method rooted in ancient history, meditation draws your mind to focus on the present. The great thing about this treatment method is that it can be practised alone or in a group setting, with a therapist guiding you through the motions. Here at Addcounsel, we’ll not only give you opportunities to participate in meditation with others, but we’ll also arm you with the tools needed to practice meditation no matter where you are.
We take a ‘stepped-care’ approach to treatment and always consider the whole person in everything that we do. Though meditation is primarily used to treat chronic and acute stress, it is also delivered in a wide range of other treatment models including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
How Meditation Works
During therapy, your personal expert will be instructing you on the best methods to have a successful meditative session. You will learn the importance of a quiet place to unwind during your meditation. Even more importantly, you will discover how to prepare your body and your mind to relax in this quiet state to receive maximum benefit.
You’ll be encouraged to focus on your breath work. Your therapist will direct you toward a number of methods of clearing your mind so that your thoughts will be focused on the immediate present. Two important, immediate benefits are that you’ll help lower your stress levels and better connect with yourself.
Over time, you will receive assistance in making meditation a regular part of your routine, for it does take some time and patience to perfect the technique. Meditation is a valuable, healthy, coping mechanism which, when used regularly, will help you deal positively with life. Often meditation is used in conjunction with other therapies because of its importance of connecting mind and body while supporting progress in other areas.
This particular therapy of meditation can be taught in group or individual sessions; either type of session will benefit you in unique ways.
How Meditation Can Help You
By practising meditation, you’ll not only help lower stress levels in the immediate moment but you’ll also arm yourself with a tool that can be used in any stressful event that comes your way. Instead of turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms – such as food, drugs, or alcohol – you’ll have an activity to help you that’s healthy and positive.
Meditation is also a great way to stay centred and better connected with yourself. By inviting thoughts and feelings in, you’ll come to understand yourself better and be more accepting of your emotions and why you act the way you do. You could even use meditation at times when you want to focus your energy on a particular task or activity.
Since meditation is deeply anchored in the art of mindfulness, you’ll also slowly learn to become more mindful of your surroundings and your body. It’s also a natural treatment method that won’t leave any side effects and will continue to help you well into your future. Some of the many long-term physical and emotional benefits include:
- Lowered heart rate
- Strengthened self-awareness
- Acquired new skill to use in times of stress
- Increased patience
- Improved tolerance
- Enhanced quality of sleep
- Reduced negative emotions
- Amplified imagination and creativity
Treatment Tailored to You
There’s no need to suffer in silence or go through your stress or worry alone. By incorporating meditation into your routine, you’ll help lower stress levels and ease your anxiety levels. We understand that there’s no ‘set’ approach to treatment, so might recommend other treatment methods in combination with meditation. Our care team will carefully assess you and take all your unique needs and medical history into consideration before drawing up a personalised treatment plan.

Addcounsel are the only luxury treatment centre in London who offer a network of 80 specialists on a one-to-one basis to their clients. We pride ourselves on focussing on clinical excellence, meaning that we are client focussed but results driven. We understand what it is to work with wealthy clients; we know that it is not always easy and we know how to treat the complex and unique challenges it can entail.
We carry out a thorough diagnosis with our team of expert medical and psychiatric practitioners; this enables us to not only know what the client’s immediate problem is but the underlying factors which may be affecting it. We use this to provide a bespoke holistic treatment program in which every single aspect of the client is looked after, from their physical to their mental health. We are well equipped to match both our clients therapeutic and lifestyle needs, and we provide ongoing care plans with the goal of enabling our clients to have long lasting and consistent recovery.
Our treatment programs are delivered on a case-by-case basis. Humans are all individuals, and at Addcounsel we recognise that. This is why our program is always tailored to the needs of the client as a person, rather than trying to apply a “one-size-fits-all” treatment model. However, some of the therapies our clients can expect to receive are:
- Psychotherapy
- EMDR
- Family Systems Therapy
- Spiritual counselling
- Mindfulness
- RTMS
- Somantic Experiencing
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT
- Positive psychology
- Hypnotherapy
In short, no. Our staff are very experienced in dealing with high-profile individuals and as such we understand the value of complete privacy. The only way that someone will find out that you attended Addcounsel is if you choose to tell them.
Our treatment programs are bespoke, and as such they do not have to have a set finish date. If you decide that you need to extend your stay with us, then we will extend your stay as long as you want.
If you decide that you need additional help upon leaving treatment, we offer tailored aftercare plans which can be carried out all over the world. This means that at any point you can have a member of our team with you, wherever you decide to go.
Absolutely. At Addcounsel, we pride ourselves on minimal disruption to the lifestyles of our clients. We want them to feel at home and comfortable during their time with us, so your staff can either stay with you or we can accommodate them in one of our exclusive Central London properties. We do provide a chef, but you are of course welcome to bring your own.
Addcounsel is also able to provide house staff, butlers, and private security if our clients require it.
