Hypnotherapy

It may seem like you have tried everything to kick an unhealthy habit or overcome a psychological condition or chronic physical ailment. Hypnotherapy could be the answer.

Living with an addiction can be incredibly difficult as it can take over and affect all areas of your life, including work, relationships, and both your mental and physical health.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to treat conditions or change habits by inducing you into a hypnotic state. In this state, the mind is more receptive to suggestion and the unconscious mind is more accessible. It allows people to experience detached external attention while focusing on the inner experience.
Most describe the sensation of hypnosis as lovely. It is often compared to the feeling you experience first thing in the morning laying in bed, where you are alert and awake, but relaxed and resting.
At Addcounsel we work with leading doctors to take a ‘whole-person’ approach to treatment, ensuring your individual needs and experiences are always prioritised. We do our best to make you feel comfortable and relaxed during hypnotherapy, and throughout your stay. Our multi-pronged approach to treatment means that we focus on all parts of your mental, physical, and emotional health on your road to recovery. Fully personalised treatment plans and discreet, private care ensure you can relax and heal in a safe environment free from external stress.

How Hypnotherapy Works

During a hypnotherapy session, a therapist will guide you through a process to induce a hypnotic trance that helps you to focus your mind, become more responsive to suggestions, and relax deeply.

The first step will be an assessment with the therapists, where you will share your medical history and discuss what you hope to achieve. The therapist will also explain the process in more detail and the methods they will use.

The therapist will then lead you into a deeply relaxed state that makes you more open or compliant to suggestions from the hypnotherapist. While in the hypnotic trance, people can become more imaginative and sometimes are able to access long-forgotten memories, offering a new perspective on their addictive behaviour.

The therapist will then use the previously agreed upon methods to guide you toward your goal, for example suggesting that you want to quit smoking.

The hypnotherapist will then guide you out of the trance-like state, after which you will discuss the session. Most people feel refreshed and relaxed after hypnotherapy.

Although everyone responds differently to hypnosis, some people undergoing hypnotherapy treatments may develop a capacity to break free from certain long-term behaviour patterns in the waking state. It is important to know that you are fully in control while under hypnosis and cannot be forced to take on suggestions that you don’t want to.

How Hypnotherapy Can Help You

Hypnotherapy treatments can help you to improve your ability to change deep-rooted behaviour patterns. You can learn to control these detrimental habits through this positive therapy.

Hypnotherapy can make things that seem impossible – such as healing, kicking addiction, or destructive behaviour – appear manageable and desirable.

In addition to breaking habits and overcoming addictions, hypnotherapy can help with a wide range of health problems, both physical and psychological.

Research suggests that hypnotherapy can successfully treat:

  • Chronic pain conditions
  • Dementia symptoms
Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Nausea and vomiting related to chemotherapy
  • Skin conditions, such as psoriasis and warts
  • Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

While hypnotherapy can help you cope with problems related to stress, trauma, and anxiety, best results may be achieved when hypnotherapy is adopted in conjunction with first-line treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or other talking therapies.

A person-centred approach is essential for hypnotherapy to work. Creating a personalised treatment plan that combines different forms of therapy or medication in a relaxing, private environment allows you to focus on the treatment, breaking habits, overcoming addiction, or healing from health conditions.

Frequently asked questions

If you have tried to stop a behaviour or habit and cannot, despite the negative impact it is having on your life then it is likely that you may need clinical intervention. Additionally, if a mental health condition is affecting the quality of your life then we can also help you.
If in doubt, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Addcounsel are the only luxury treatment centre in London who offer a network of 80 specialists on a one-to-one basis to their clients. We pride ourselves on focussing on clinical excellence, meaning that we are client focussed but results driven. We understand what it is to work with wealthy clients; we know that it is not always easy and we know how to treat the complex and unique challenges it can entail.
We carry out a thorough diagnosis with our team of expert medical and psychiatric practitioners; this enables us to not only know what the client’s immediate problem is but the underlying factors which may be affecting it. We use this to provide a bespoke holistic treatment program in which every single aspect of the client is looked after, from their physical to their mental health. We are well equipped to match both our clients therapeutic and lifestyle needs, and we provide ongoing care plans with the goal of enabling our clients to have long lasting and consistent recovery.

Our treatment programs are delivered on a case-by-case basis. Humans are all individuals, and at Addcounsel we recognise that. This is why our program is always tailored to the needs of the client as a person, rather than trying to apply a “one-size-fits-all” treatment model. However, some of the therapies our clients can expect to receive are:

  • Psychotherapy
  • EMDR
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Spiritual counselling
  • Mindfulness
  • RTMS
  • Somantic Experiencing
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – CBT
  • Positive psychology
  • Hypnotherapy

In short, no. Our staff are very experienced in dealing with high-profile individuals and as such we understand the value of complete privacy. The only way that someone will find out that you attended Addcounsel is if you choose to tell them.

Our treatment programs are bespoke, and as such they do not have to have a set finish date. If you decide that you need to extend your stay with us, then we will extend your stay as long as you want.
If you decide that you need additional help upon leaving treatment, we offer tailored aftercare plans which can be carried out all over the world. This means that at any point you can have a member of our team with you, wherever you decide to go.

Absolutely. At Addcounsel, we pride ourselves on minimal disruption to the lifestyles of our clients. We want them to feel at home and comfortable during their time with us, so your staff can either stay with you or we can accommodate them in one of our exclusive Central London properties. We do provide a chef, but you are of course welcome to bring your own.
Addcounsel is also able to provide house staff, butlers, and private security if our clients require it.
